Me and My Blanket

Porter does some silly things with his blanket as you can see in these pictures. He is never without his favorite blanket. One time I took it away from him to wash it. It took me a good half hour to calm him down again. Then I made the mistake of having him in the Landry room as I was putting it into the dryer. Now we have to be secretive on how we take his blanket to wash it. He loves his blanket! His favorite thing to do with the blanket is to put his finger in the tag. That tag is pretty strong. One of these days that tag is going to come off or his finger will. I hope the tag losses that war.

My Best Friend!

You always wonder if your kids will get along with the pet. It is clear that they love each other, they are best friends. Porter is always running around with Penny taking her toys and playing fetch as best as he can. Now that he can throw her toys down the stairs they are having a lot more fun.
There is just one thing that Porter likes to do more then anything with Penny and that his gives her hugs. Every day Porter will find Penny and give her hugs. He even now says, "Good Girl!" He interacts with Penny so good. It is nice that they have each other.

My new favorite place to be

Porter has really started to pick up reading on his own even when he is in his chair. We have a rocking chair in his room that he just loves to seat in. I had to find something that would make him happy, so I thought why not this chair. I put him in gave him his blanket and a book and he was so happy for an hour. Wow all you need is some good lighting, a comfy chair, your favorite blanket, and a good book and you are happy. Thank you Porter for making our day.

to Bee or not to Bee

One day I thought. "hey lets put this costume on Porter and see what he does." Next thing I knew he was running around acting like a bee laughing and having fun. I made the mistake of take it off when he clearly didn't want it off. So here he is just being a cute little Bumble Bee.
Who would have ever thought that a bee costume that is made for a dog would be so cute on our little guy? Even crazier to think that Porter would love to wear it and ask for it to be put on?! I know I didn't but these pictures prove other wise.

Porter's First Hair Cut

I finally did it; I took Porter in to get his hair cut. I don't know if you moms out there are like me, but to get your baby's hair the first time is hard. I thought I was going to cry 'cause I loved Porter's long curls. We went to the same Barber that Tim used to go to back in California when he was a kid.
I sat on the chair and held Porter on my lap and let Henry do his magic. At first I was nervous, sad and unsure I really wanted to do this. I was more of a wreck then Porter. He was staying so calm and didn't care too much for what was going on. That helped calm me down.
When Henry pulled out the scissors I thought Porter would go crazy, but instead he liked it. He likes having his hair played with. Porter didn't move that much and was even good when the clippers came out. He just tried to pull things off the chair and wanted to see what was going on. Porter has always wanted to know how things worked. It was fun to watch him try to figure out the scissors and clippers and what they where doing with his hair.
After Henry did his magic on Porter checked himself out for awhile in the mirror. Henry did a really nice job. Porter now looks like a little boy. He still sometimes misses playing with his hair, but he knows that he looks good.

Wright Family Fun!!

Way back at the being of July we got together with my side of the family. I guess you can say it was for the 4th of July. I know that it is now almost September, but I thought that I would still share this with you.
It is always fun getting together with family. We had a nice BBQ at my sister Trina's house. This year we had hamburgers and hot dogs (The traditional BBQ). We always have some crazy food -- like last year we had lobster legs. This year we had a 3-layer jello in the shape of the USA. Thanks to Leah and her gift of making amazing Jello! Tim eat New England and Cheri eat California.
There are so many kids and the number is still growing. Lucky for them Trina and Karl have a big backyard for all of them to run around and play. I am just so grateful for the older kids that want to watch the young ones. It makes it so nice for the adults to talk and have some fun also. We really do have any amazing family that wants to hangout with each other and have a good time.
That night we had an amazing firework road show. Thanks to my Husband and brothers it just kept going and going and going. One of the best show ever! Good job Men! What a great time.
Here are some pics of that fun day.

Happy Birthday Porter!

What a blast we had at Porter's 1st birthday party. We had our family and some close friends come and join us for the celebration. His birthday party couldn't have been any better. We had a nice BBQ, or should I say just tons of food. Porter opened his presents. (Ok I opened his presents and he then played with them.) We all enjoyed watching him feed himself his birthday cake. It is always fun to see a kid just go at it. Then we just had a blast the Jolly Jumper we rented. (one of those big blowup jungle gym things.) Thanks to everyone that helped make Porter's Birthday a special day for him and for us. I love you all.

Hogle Zoo

Isn't it amazing for how much you want to do for a 1st birthday. Really, are the kids going to remember it? At the same time if you didn't do anything are they going to be mad? For me, I love birthdays and I will always try and make them big.
For Porter's first birthday we took him to the Hogle Zoo. There is something about the zoo that makes everyone smile. Even when you it might be a hot day, you can always look forward to seeing something that brings you joy. We saw a tortoise fight.
I am glad that we were able to take him to the Zoo. I know that we will go there often. Happy Birthday Porter!

Porter's turned ONE

Porter has finally turned one. Man where did that year go? I have always felt that he has been older then what he is. He is just a go get'm type. Which has been a treat for us to watch. We are so grateful to have Porter in our lives. He has really made us better people. We love him so much. That's right Porter we love you.
Some things that I have learned from him in just one year.
1. He needs to do it himself. (Really doesn't like help.)
2. You show him how to do something once and he can do it the next time.
3. He loves to be a baby even though he thinks his a big boy.
4. He wants to make people happy.
5. Can sense moods even when there is nothing being said. (Really cute to watch him care.)
6. He loves to play with Penny and tease her as much as he can.
7. Most of all he really loves us. (Even at an early age he shows love.)

What a hike!

Our friends came out from Nebraska and invited us to go on a hike with them. They wanted to go to the Timp Caves. To tell you the honest truth I was wondering how this would go. They are from a really flat state and this hike is not.
They did the hike like it was nothing. They are my hero's! As we kept climbing and we got higher and higher our friend Mandi's Mom Sue got scared. You forget that you could easily fall off the edge there. It was even scary for me.
The hike in and of itself was beautiful. Everything was so green and a little cloudy which helped to keep us happier. If you ever want to go on this hike go in the morning. It was perfect then and not that many people. Also if you want to take your kids I recommend that you wait until they are old enough to really enjoy it and can stay close to you.
Once we finally made it to the cave it was well worth the hike. Being inside was so beautiful. It is amazing what things are inside the earth. I took a lot of crazy pictures. Still I am only sharing a few. When you look back the pictures all started to look the same. Still every where welooked it was different.
We had a great going with our friends Justin and Mandi and their family. Can you believe that it was Tim and my first times to the Caves?! That is right, first time! The great wonders of being in Utah.
