Sad Day for Angels' Fans

I am not sure if any of you watch sports news. As for us in this house we watch ESPN everyday. So when I turned it on and this Breaking News came on I was glued. As I was watching I couldn't believe what I had just seen. I paused the show and got Tim down to see.

As we watched, we are just shocked. One of the Angels pitchers, Nick Adenhart, had just passed away due to a hit and run automobile accident. Being an Angels' fan and a Salt Lake Bees' fan, it was sad to hear about what had happen. (for people that don't know the Bees are the minor league team to the Angles.)

It just would have been nice to see him play more and see what he could have done for the team. Still another life cut short cause a person decided to get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol. So please don't drink a drive, you never know whose life you could be changing.

He must be in pain.

What a crazy day it has been. This morning Porter woke up with his "I am not so happy" cry. It wasn't one of those "I am mad" cries or "I just got hurt cries. It was different than what I have heard before.

At first I felt his head and it was a little warm so I gave him some Tylenol -- just thinking that he was teething and that was why he has this weird cry. We just kept going along with our normal day. We went on a walk and he was happy. We came home and he just sacked out in Daddy's arms. When he woke up from that nap he was feeling a little hotter then normal, so I gave him some more Tylenol. I tried to give him a bottle and he didn't really want to eat it. He was still feeling hot to me. I thought that maybe after 20 minutes the Tylenol would kick in. Still we took his temperature not thinking much of it. Well once it hit 102 and kept counting I was like we need to go to the Doctors.

So we went in and found out he has an ear infection. Porter's first. I just hope we caught it in time and all goes well for him. The doctor prescribed some antibiotics that looks and tastes like a creamsicle. We will just have to wait and see for a few more days.

California Trip

We went out to California to celebrate my Grandpa Selle's 80th Birthday. My folks rented a condo right on Channel Island Harbor, which became a secret gathering point for most of Grandpa's relatives. They came from Seattle, Arizona, Utah, and of course California.

It was all a huge surprise party. My folks, along with Uncle George and Aunt Laura, picked Grandpa up in a Duffy (a small electric boat) and ferried him to the condo via the harbor. When they came around the last turn to the dock there we were, ready to greet him. I think it was a fitting tribute to a guy that has done so much with his life an touched the lives of so many other people.

We all had a great time getting to know each other, eating food, and taking rides around the harbor in the Duffy. My mom put together a brief video that highlighted many of the pivotal moments and people in Grandpa's life. I liked it, and I think everyone else did. And though he probably would not admit it, I actually saw Grandpa shed a small tear or two.

Please enjoy the pictures and videos.
